Intention versus interpretation
			Have your students read an interview with Matthew Olshan. In that interview, the writer details his artistic intentions for the novel. Then ask them to discuss their interpretations of the story, and how they differ from the writer’s stated intent. Do an artist’s intentions matter? Or does a story live solely in the reader’s interpretation?
